Simple Habits to Change Your Life: The Game Changer

Disclaimer: This is going to sound too good to be true. There’s no way for it to NOT sound too good to be true, but here I go anyway. Jodie and I have just experienced a miracle, and that’s not an overstatement. I like to call it “The Game Changer.” If you aren’t ready for change don’t read any further. If you don’t want to be happier, more productive, more fulfilled don’t read past this paragraph. You don’t want to be fulfilled or live the life of your dreams? Then stop right here. If you are OK with any of the aforementioned, read on.

Our Starting Point

Let’s start with a quick quiz. Do any of these apply to you?

  • always tired, never feel like you’ve gotten enough sleep
  • hate waking up in the morning
  • usually hit the snooze several times just prolonging the torture of getting up
  • never have enough time in the day to get it all done
  • usually stay up late
  • even when you go to bed at a reasonable time you still have trouble getting up
  • procrastinate
  • lack direction
  • disorganized, unproductive
  • have trouble getting motivated
  • trouble staying motivated
  • have lots of personal goals and professional dreams but don’t seem to be making much progress
  • lack confidence
  • held back by fear or worry
  • just trying to survive
  • in a slump
  • don’t want to get out of bed
  • honestly pretty depressed
  • wish you could be like those amazing people you read about with tons of energy, always excited about life and achieving the seeming impossible…

Who are these people anyway?

Did you check any boxes? Then this is the post for you! Jodie and I checked a lot of boxes. While we aren’t depressed, we certainly struggle to achieve what we want to achieve in any given day, and don’t get me started about the ordeal of prying myself out of bed every day.

Simple Habits to Change Your Life: The Game Changer

So, now that we’ve set the stage, are you ready for the game changer?

What if I told you there’s a way to change all of the above? What if I said it could happen as early as tomorrow morning? You’d think I had lost it. Well, you certainly wouldn’t believe me. Ok, ok. I know, I wouldn’t believe me either.

Christmas Morning

Remember the excitement you felt when you were a little kid and it was Christmas morning? Do you remember wanting to hurry up and go to bed so you could wake up? What if I said every day could feel like Christmas morning, only better because you knew that you got to do it again tomorrow morning and then next and the next?

Would you then want to bring out the word “miracle”? We might need to bring out the word “miracle.” I want you to get ready for it. I want you to get ready for your life to be remade, to experience what you have thought was impossible. You need to start dreaming, and I mean really dreaming. Big! Your biggest dreams, your most daring wishes, because it’s about to happen to you.

Simple Habits to Change Your Life: The Miracle Morning

So, enough prep talk, let’s get to it. The “game changer” I want to talk to you about something called The Miracle Morning, created and written by Hal Elrod. Jodie and I listened to a podcast as part of our homework for the course we are taking online and via live video classes with our guru and mentor extraordinaire, Monica Pruett. Head to her blog, The 6 Figure blog, and access her free awesome content and her courses.

Monica had already told us that she got up at 4:30 every morning (insert eye roll), and I was like, of course she does. She’s also the woman who wrote 100 sponsored blog posts last year and 100 the previous year. This is Monica; she’s not a “normal” person. She’s an extraordinary person. So yeah, I was not all that surprised when she told us she gets up at 4:30.

Monica wrote one phrase above the pod cast that said, “The Pod Cast That Changed My Business.” Then she wrote, “You’ll Be Unstoppable.” Well, I wanted to be unstoppable. And I thought to myself, maybe I can learn a thing or two (and just not get up early).

I listened to the podcast and my heart started to beat faster. The host said the magic words. He was a devoted night owl and had never thought it possible to be a morning person and yet here he was, a changed man. Maybe there was hope for me after all.

Why So Early?

Mindset. We’ve heard of this before. Big deal, you say to yourself, I can “set my mind” at a reasonable hour.  Trust me. That was totally my frame of mind. But just hold on folks, just stay with me.

It’s the difference between “I have to get up” and “I choose to get up.” When you greet your day with dread, it sets your day in a direction. Furthermore, when you greet your day with unwillingness that sets your day. Hitting the snooze bar? That’s active procrastination. Is this the start of a grateful, productive, optimistic day? Or is this a day you’re just going to survive? The choice is yours.

Honestly, this was all news to me. I didn’t even realize I was making a choice. I just thought “I wasn’t a morning person.” Turns out, we don’t realize how many choices we are making. And these unconscious choices are hurting us. They are hurting our lives in far-reaching ways, and it’s literally time to WAKE UP!

Each day is a true gift. Treat it as such and the day will BE a gift. Treat it like an unwelcome enemy and that’s what you’ll get.

Are you ready to change your life? How about it, are you ready to give it a shot? If we can do it, you can do it. We challenge you to try it for one week. Will you do it for us? This is not your mother talking, it’s your best friend.

Simple Habits to Change Your Life: Here’s What to Do

The Miracle Morning Book by Hal Elrod, 6 simple habits to change your life

This is the book that has the power to change your entire life. Jodie and I recommend it more than anything we’ve ever recommended!

  • Buy the book. This is an affiliate link above, provided for your convenience and to help pay the bills of this beautiful blog you’re reading.
  • Read the first chapters for free right at Amazon (if you are waiting for shipment). If you bought the Kindle version, you can start reading right away.
  • Begin tomorrow morning. Once you start reading, you’ll want to anyway.
  • Do not waste another day!
  • Warning: Even though you can start, don’t think you know it all without reading the entire book. Our mornings grew in power significantly after reading the whole book. Leave it to us to think we’ve got this before we’ve really got this.
  • Set your alarm clock for a solid hour before you need to get going for your day. I like to set mine for 1.5 hours early so I can get my coffee and get myself organized and build in a little extra time.
  •  To help you remember, Hal Elrod, the author of “The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your life” and inventor of this method created an acronym:

S.A.V.E.R.S: 6 steps to having your best day every day.

Silence, Affirmation, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, Striving

(Striving is a fancy word for journaling)

6 Simple Habits to Change Your Life

1. Silence

Practice some form of silent meditation to focus your thoughts and energy. This can be deep breathing, reflection, gratitude, or prayer.

2. Affirmation

Write down positive affirmations. This is a proven powerful tool. As Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right either way.” Affirmation is something Jodie and I had never done before, so we really needed to read Hal’s book for this one.

3. Visualization

I love this part so much. Picture yourself working toward your dream(s). Picture yourself doing the things you need to do to attain your dream. Imagine yourself becoming the person you need to become to reach your dream. Your dreams can change, by the way, so don’t feel pressure to pick “the right one.”

For Jodie and me, we want to write a book. We want to be published authors, so we visualize writing. We see ourselves typing away at our computers and visualize the book tour. Next, I see us on stage talking about our book. I see myself on the stage doing a headstand and then we have a headstand contest.

4. Exercise

10 minutes of exercise of your choice. This is to get the blood pumping, endorphins flowing. You can do yoga, stretching, anything you want really. It all feels good. I start by stretching and ease into it. I’m always shocked at how good it feels. In my 50 years I’ve never started the day doing exercise even though I love to exercise. Who knew?

5. Reading

Your first obvious choice will be “The Miracle Morning.”  After you finish, choose any self-help you want. I currently have a pile of books seven high waiting to be read. Consider this your self-development fuel. Every day is an opportunity. If you aren’t motivated or don’t have direction on how to improve, you probably won’t. As Hal reminds us, “It only takes one idea to change a life.” Focus on one or two ideas for the day and you are on the road to being the best you can be, achieving the life of your dreams.

6. Striving

As I said, this is a fancy word for journaling. Take the ideas swirling around your brain from your prayer time, affirmations, visualization, and reading and jot down your ideas. This last step will help you consolidate your thoughts, organize yourself, and also give you a record of your ah-ha moments. At this point, I always have amazing clarity, and in one week I’ve had many ah-ha moments. This journal is now my most prized possession.

This is where we begin…

6 Simple Habits to Change Your Life

As soon as you accept this challenge you are on the road to creating the life of you dreams, whether you believe it not. You don’t have to have complete “buy-in” to begin and be successful. Agree to try it out just for a week. I’ve never enjoyed getting up in my life, except Christmas morning when I was a kid and that’s it. Now, I bound out of bed. If you don’t feel profound changes, you can stop. If you decide after a week that your time is better spent unconscious in your bed, then you’ll have lost nothing at all. But what if this is the game changer for you? I’d hate for you to miss out.

This is just the beginning of this blog series. I already have the second and third in the series planned and outlined. There is so much more to share.

We are on a journey together. How cool is that?

Now go set your alarm. Tomorrow’s Christmas!

XO,

jodie & julie

When I worked outside the home, I would get up 3 hours before I had to leave. It was my quiet time for me (in a house of 6 people!
Now that I’m a homemaker and caregiver of my Dad, I feel so much more tired than I did when I worked. I struggle with being exhausted all the time and I keep telling my hubs that I would feel better if I’d just get up early.
Thank you for this! I’m going to try!
And thank you for MARCH MADNESS!

  38. Roxie Magro says:

What a great post! Definitely going to try waking up an hour and a half before I need to???? Thanks for sharing and thanks for March Madness!

  39. Sandy Belabin says:

Great article. My husband and I both can related to this list! Will have him read this blog and see if we can do this as a team…together!

    March Madness

  40. Anne H says:

Thank you ladies! I just ordered the book through your link!???? I already am a morning person. I send my husband out the door at 6:00 am and I have an hour and 45 wonderful minutes to myself before I head to my part time job. I usually do yoga then get ready for work, eat breakfast and then enjoy about three cups of coffee with the morning paper and if I have time, read my current book. But, I really think the positive affirmation, visualization and journaling will be a big impact! Can’t wait to get the book! Loving this March Madness!!!

  41. Caroline says:

Just ordered the book! I can relate to way too many of the items on the quiz, so I really need to change my habits. Thanks for this motivating, encouraging post ladies! And thanks for March Madness!

  42. Nadia Kirkwood says:

    Julie and Jodi,

First of all I can’t believe your 50 (if I read it correctly). You’re both so beautiful and look so young looking.
Anyway…I’m certainly not a morning person. I am blessed to have a husband that works from home who gets up early and gets things started. I guess all those years getting up early and through the night with my kids made me this way ????
So after reading this wonderful post, I’m feeling motivated and will set the alarm early and will try the 6 steps.
Thank you so much for March Madness

Hugs to you both and god bless
    Nadia

  43. Kelly Jackson says:

Love this! I am ordering the book now and starting tomorrow.

    Thank you!

  44. Donni says:

This book has been in my Kindle library for several months… Thanks for the nudge to start it again! I checked off practically every single thing on that list, so I know that I’ve got to do SOMETHING. You’ve written a very motivating post! March Madness! ❤️

  45. Gina says:

You both are very inspiring! So Blessed to have come upon your IG and now Blog! ❤️???????? #MarchMadness

  46. Paula says:

As I was reading the list I thought…. when did I meet Julie and Jodie? They’ve pretty much got my number! I have said my whole life I am not a morning person. I do know that on the rare occasions I do get up early and am productive, I am shocked how much I get done! I am working on making changes to my life to help with stress and anxiety, so this sounds like something I should check out! Thanks for sharing!

  47. Sherry says:

Years ago I thought I was a night owl. Maybe I just chose to be. Then after my kids were gown and married I went to work at a hospital, working 7A-7P. Believe me your circadian rhythm gets really out of whack, and you don’t know if you’re a morning person, or a night person… maybe both. Eighteen months ago I retired. It took awhile to get used to going to bed at night. It was a rhythm that was as much a part of me as breathing.
Since retiring my sleep pattern has changed (I’m not sure it’s a good pattern, but its better) and my health is so much better. I’ve lost 22 pounds, my blood pressure has dropped, and I’m more focused. And I smile a heck of a lot more!
If you’re retired you can go to bed when you choose, and get up when you choose. Sometimes I’m up at 3 AM cleaning the bathroom, or doing laundry, or baking cookies. But I do believe that rising early gives you more focus, Julie & Jodie. You are right. Thanks for the wonderful advice and encouragement to set a time to rise early. Habits make life predictable , and easy to manage. Making life easier. Now I’ve got the time & energy to do some crazy fun things.
I’m anxious to see all the prizes you girls are giving during March Madness. I love your taste.

  48. Julie says:

Ugh! Gulp! So this is march madness?!?! I wish I didn’t like you precious twins like I do. I fully love to stay up late and sleep in. But because it was your faith and trust in Jesus that drew me back all this time, and my love for twins. I will try it????….kicking and screaming. Seriously, I have had times in my life…brief no doubt, where I realized how this changes everything, but I suppose the stubbornness, knowing that I didn’t need a real schedule gave me a sense of victory in choosing my schedule. Now you have me excited to try something off the wall new…just because I can. (And I would LOVE a game changer! Bless you sweeties!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

      Julie,

I used to start my day with prayer, reading something spirtual and exercise. I had to have anither back and neck surgery and totally got away from it. I know I need to start again. I felt so much better. I felt like you were talking just to me. This is jist what I needed to hear. March Madness! I need to to get back to my prayer journal. I really loved that quiet time where all my thoughts were focused on Him in prayer and praise in the wee part of the morning. Got to do it!????❤

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Patsy, Yes you do. We feel so much better when we connect with Him in prayer and quiet meditation every day. I am using several parts of my miracle morning routine to connect with God, write, and affirm my commitment to Him. It’s an amazing way to start my day…with love & blessings, Julie & Jodie

  56. LEAH ANN MONTGOMERY says:

    Jodie and Julie,
Thank you for suggesting The Miracle Morning…….I love getting up early, but some days my mind says “get up” and my body doesn’t want to follow. I am certainly going to give it a read. I found leaving your curtains open at night and welcoming the morning light has also been a game changer. There is something about being awake before the rest of the house and sitting down with that mug of coffee or tea and taking in the sunrise.

    March Madness!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Dear Kim, I love it! I love exactly what you described. I am newly addicted. I actually don’t want the days to increase because then it gets lighter earlier. 71. Tanya Smith says:

I have never been a morning person (insert whiney face), but I’ve noticed that I’ve been “magically” waking up—without needing a cro-bar for my eyelids—since Wednesday morning. My morning person of a daughter even came in surprised this morning, sure I was still in bed (checking IG), but I wasn’t moaning like usual mornings. 😉 Maybe it’s part of March Madness!

After reading this I sat for awhile thinking about everything you said. I suppose I am a morning person as I’ve never used an alarm clock, don’t even know how to set one. I work long hours, two jobs usually 15 hours most days.. I start at 7:30 and finish at 10.. I’m gonna try the stretching in the morning and I’m on my feet the majority of the time. I really love all the posts and all the pretty decor and I tell myself I can do, just a bit at a time.. even if it’s just adding some fresh flowers..truly inspiring.. March Madness…

  81. Cici Bule says:

I’m forced to be a morning person! Haha little one always needs mommy, but trust me, I would love to sleep a little longer!
What a great idea though, it sounds very fufulling and yes, when I’m actually organized and get started with a plan, I feel like I’ve got it together. Definitely something to consider to better myself to I can be a better ME for my family and I. ????

  83. Rekindled Signs says:

This is inspiring. I do get up early in the morning but I need to change my mindset and be more intentional! March madness

  84. Kim says:

I totally agree with this! It seems when I choose to ‘get up’ as opposed to ‘forced to get up’ then Ive always had a more productive and positive day for sure! I love your blog! • jjdesigntwins says:

Yay Linda, We try very hard to be true to our word. If we every are not, it would be a lack of organization or being slightly forgetful…that happens sometimes…but we really do try hard. Integrity is big in our book. Do what you say, say what you mean. Be trustworthy. These are all things we strive for. We are so happy you have joined us on our blog and we look forward to enjoying with journey together. With love & gratitude, Julie & Jodie

  87. Cara says:

This is really good. I have been asked before the question, why get up early when you can stay up later isn’t it just a choice of early hours or late hours? My grandpa used to say an hour of sleep before midnight is worth two after. I however never had had strong convictions either way and never had an answer for that question. I am excited to read the book. Thank you! Oh! And yay for March Madness! A sweet thing of you to do!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Cara, We are excited for you. We have changed and our lives have already improved greatly and it’s only been a week. We love it, and we have never enjoyed the mornings in our entire lives. All is changed, and it truly feels like a miracle. We are learning so much, and we have so much more to share with you, so we hope you will stay. XO ~ Julie & Jodie

Thank you for the information???? March madness

  89. Tammy says:

    Happy Friday ! March madness

  90. Jules says:

You are both such inspirations… Jodie, am I recalling correctly that you used to be a teacher? Or am I imagining? LOL. I ask because I am a teacher, having a very challenging year. I’ve always thought of myself as “not a morning person,” but this year has made me even less of a morning person. Each day I find myself dreading getting out of bed in the morning, procrastinating facing all the stresses of my day. This of course sets the tone for my day which I’m aware. Sometimes I am excited about the following morning before I go to sleep, but then in the morning NOTHING seems more important to me than sleep. These 6 steps make a lot of sense… I really want to try it… it sounds super hard!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Jules, From reading this we know you can benefit from this immensely. It is our great hope that you read the book so you have all the tools and put this into action as soon as you can. Attitude is everything, and with your challenging job/year you need all your resources. You need your attitude working for you and right now it’s working against you…it’s a downward spiral…bad leading to worse. That’s normal, but it doesn’t have to be that way. We hope you will stick around because we have lots more inspiring posts to share with you and help you lead your best life! XO ~ Julie (and yes, we were both teachers!)

  91. Corey says:

I will definitely be retaking this post and checking out the book tomorrow. I checked off many items on your initial list. I am excited about trying this out! Thanks for adding more excitement to the “March Madness”! ????

  93. Irene says:

You two are an inspiration! Day 3 March Madness!

  94. ANDREA says:

Wow!! Did you write this post just for me ? The list you started off with was me to a tee. “Like Christmas morning “….new Mantra????

  95. Cathy says:

I am a morning person. I like to be up before anyone to have me time. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not up at 4:30 am, nor do I want to be but I’m up rather early. I agree, I get so much more done. I love the concept of this book and look forward to reading it.

  99. Abigail freund says:

Thank you for this blog post! I am inspired to get the book, read it, and start applying it to my daily life! I am currently a stay at home mom, and I could really benefit from an earlier start, mentally and spiritually! I love the “savers” acronym, and think daily affirmations and journaling would be beneficial to most everyone, and am going to try both. Thank you for this very insightful and helpful blog post, so glad I took the time to read it!

Thanks for new ideas. March madness ????

  103. Diana Gonzalez IG:dreamofcoffeeandhomedecor says:

Did you ladies write this post for me? It sure felt love ke it. I checked so many of the boxes of the quiz. I’m always tired and have literally 3 alarms in the morning but (I thought) I have/had an excuse…I have hypothyroidism. But now I came to the realization that what’s really keeping me from being a morning person and having the energy to workout etc., is my mind. Thank you so much for this eye opening post and also thank you for the opportunity to participate in the March Madness.

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Diana, You’ve already made the huge Ah-ha breakthrough!!! Imagine all you can achieve when you read the book and supply yourself with all the tools to change. So many people make the mistake of making excuses, and they don’t even realize they are excuses. Many, many people think “I’m not a morning person” like it’s a fact. It’s only a fact because they make it their reality. There actually is no such thing. We are here to inspire and help people change their lives for the better…and we want to do it one person at a time. We just started with you, my dear! Blessings, Julie & Jodie

  111. Liz says:

    Hi Julie and Jodie.
My husband and I are night owls but I really need to be a better morning person.
I keep telling myself that I did get up early all those years and now I reward myself by being in bed until about 7 or 7:30. You have encouraged me to do better. I adore all that you do and helping all of us be better at what we do. Looking forward to a Beautiful Sping as I planted flowers today. I’m blessed at 76 and able to enjoy life. love this post….but I am not wired to be a morning person. As a child my Mom tried to get me to eat breakfast before school but it made me sick (barfed a lot!!!)…fast forward I am still the same. I am writing this at 11:36 pm , and am wide awake. Wish I could be a morning person but at my age I’ve quit fighting it and accept that I work best a night. Thanks! March Madness.

Linda, We are so glad you have joined us on our blog. No worries, we have lots more inspiring posts for you that we think you’ll enjoy. You don’t need to become a morning person to grow and learn and live your best life. Many blessings, Julie & Jodie

  118. Mindi says:

Ladies, I stumbled on your March Madness post which led me to read this article and it resonated with me so deeply; I am so grateful. The past week I have committed myself to rising early and struggle each day, not realizing (until reading this post) that I consciously choose to procrastinate every single morning which inevitably leads me to a day that always seems to feel rushed and a bit “off.” It sounds silly now to say, but what power there is in shifting, if only slightly, my mindset about the alarm clock. Thank you for sharing this book and your takeaways. I am looking forward to reading!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Mindi, Believe it or not you have just made major progress here! It is about an important and necessary shift in mindset…yes! You are going to get there…you’ve just made a crucial discovery and you are already on your way. We hope you will take the one week challenge, get the book, and join us on this journey! Nothing to lose and everything to gain. Stick with us on the blog because we are going to start living our best lives ever…together! XO ~ Julie & Jodie

  119. Jas says:

Thank you for the wonderful post! I think it’s absolutely correct, it is your mind frame and choosing to get up. I often get eyerolls for being a morning person but I have been one since I can remember! I’ve always been excited to wake up and tackle my day. When I have difficult days (because we all do), I practice gratitude and I find it helps. I also meditate ten minutes a day but that’s usually to unwind to get to bed earlier. I am thankful for March Madness because I had never read your blog before but I am certainly glad I am now 🙂

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Wow, Jas, you are way ahead of all of us!! So excited. But, everyone can improve. That’s one of the things about Hal’s book. This program helps the highest achievers and the most desperate of souls and everyone in between. We are so glad you found us and truly hope you will stay for this amazing journey. Let’s travel it together! Warmest wishes, Julie & Jodie

  120. Taylor Wozniak says:

Loved this article! You are so right, it is a choice! Woke up early this Saturday morning instead of thinking it is my day to “sleep in” and I have already accomplished so many things and it is only 7am. Thank you ladies.
    P.s. March madness

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Taylor, We LOVE it! Yay! We hope you will take full advantage of this concept and read the book we recommend, the Miracle Morning. We thought we knew “what it was about” after just reading the free excerpt from Amazon…we were wrong. The book is packed with incredible, empowering information that truly turns your morning routine into a transformation. The book over-delivers. We hope you will also stay tuned with us here on our blog. We have so much more to share and are just getting started. We hope you will travel this journey with us. Your friends, Julie & Jodie

  121. Kay says:

Love this! I could hear your sweet voices while reading this. I’ve always known that my day goes better and I’m more productive when I get up early. I’m a new cancer survivor. I purposely scheduled my chemo and radiation treatments for 8:30 each morning to force myself to get up and get going early. I truly believe it helped my attitude and recovery. Sadly, I haven’t followed this routine since I finished treatments. Thank you for inspiring me to start again. And, thank you for the March Madness giveaway!

  122. Janice says:

6 wonderful habits to start the day. I plan to start tomorrow. March Madness

  123. So many laugh-out-loud moments in reading this post. Thank you for making this funny yet inspiring! I’m excited to get started tomorrow morning!!

    • I forgot to write #MarchMadness. Oops sorry this was my first time commenting!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Sylvia, I’m so glad I had you giggling. I love to laugh…one of the best things to do. Life is too short to be too serious. We should enjoy every moment, working hard, growing, being the best people we can be, creating joy and being joyful as a reflection of our inner selves. Laughter is a part of that joy 🙂 We hope you will continue to be inspired by our blog. We hope you will visit us often and travel this journey with us…who knows where it will lead…but the journey is the joy! With love & gratitude, Julie & Jodie

  124. Sarah says:

I am going to try this! I think it’s a fabulous idea! And also great to teach my children to love mornings. if I don’t love them why would my kids love them.
    March madness!!!

  125. Sharon T says:

I need this so much in my life! Mornings are my worst and I run around feeling lost all day. My husband sounds like your husband. (Perfectly organized. Never loses things…) So that leaves me feeling like a “child” when I can’t find keys, purse etc. I need to grow up. Haha! Thanks girls.

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Sharon, Join us! We are all works in progress…that’s the beauty of it. We can “grow up” or choose to not grow up. But it is all up to us. We want you to be empowered to make changes if you want. The Miracle Morning will give you the tools you need to do and be whatever you want. It puts all the power in your own hands. Once you realize you have this power it is an amazing feeling…probably the greatest feeling. We are on this journey of discovery together. Stay tuned for lots more inspiration! Your friends, Julie & Jodie

  126. Elizma C says:

I have always said that I wish I ws a morning person. Maybe it’s time I just BECAME one! Great post thank you.

    March Madness ☺

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Elizma, Exactly, and the whole “morning person” or not is a monomer. We become morning people…we decide on our own. No one is naturally a morning person…they just enjoy it and convince themselves. The opposite is true, and most people are in this second category. Once presented with the information and possibilities of the Miracle Morning Jodie and I both instantly became able to wake up happily. We’ve both been at it every single morning since we started and have never been happier. We wish you great success and hope you try it. With love, Julie & Jodie

  127. Carolyn says:

  129. Cory Downie says:

Hello Julie and Jodie… Iam sorry about the stressors associated with your popularity and March Madness…I know you have always been generous with your personal comments and I wondered to myself…how much time does this take…Iam just happy reading your website and blogs and instagram and do not need you to answer me..Iam plenty happy with all your ideas and when I listen to you…I actually think it is a personal conversation directed to me…So that in itself is pretty neat..This is because you are so genuine. Thanks!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Cory, You are a love and a half, and even though you said I didn’t have to answer I couldn’t resist your kindness. It means so much. XO ~ Julie

  130. Michelle says:

I look forward to listening to you lovely women each morning. I just ordered the book and can’t wait for the next post. Thank you for always inspiring and being real. Your positive and cheerful attitude is so contagious! I just love it!
    xoxo,

  131. Alexandra says:

I’ll have to admit, my eyes popped when I read 4:30, but I’m a little enticed. Going to read the sample of Amazon now ☺️ March Madness

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Alexandra, Welcome to our blog! We are honestly so glad you made it here. We hope you will find much to inspire you and make visiting with us here a regular part of you days. You don’t have to get us at 4:30. You actually can get about 80% of the benefit of the Miracle Morning routine in 6 minutes! But that is a compromise…if you give it an hour it’s fantastic. But the weird thing is your body adjusts and it’s so exciting that you end of wanting more and not less! Nothing short of a miracle. If you decide achieving your dreams, living the life you always wanted isn’t worth getting up early for, then you can go back to the old habits. 🙂 With love, Julie & Jodie

  132. Lauren says:

Thanks for this. ???? march madness

  142. Sarah says:

Love this post ! It really makes you think ???? Thank you for sharing your hearts!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Sarah, and it is just the tip of the iceburg…really and truly. We highly recommend the book…it over-delivers on all the promises. We have the power to live the lives of our dreams. 144. Nancy Laverde says:

You girls, ahhhh, I love you girls! Love your spirit, personality, kindness, transparency and how each of us who follow and read your blog posts feel a true and genuine connection to you! Seriously, you guys are TRULY inspirational on SOOOO many levels! I consider myself a morning person, I love doing some of the above mentioned tips but I’d love to put most if not all to practice! Count me in your journey!

Ps. I SOOOO see you girls being published. I know it WILL happen!

  145. Jill says:

Ladies, I love your spirit!! I am definitely not a morning person. Just thinking about getting up even earlier than I do now makes me cringe…but I am seriously considering it due to your glowing endorsement of doing so. You both have beautiful souls that shine through your Instagram and blog posts daily. It is a breath of fresh air to hear the words….hello friends 🙂 I would love to know your favorite scents of the Agape candles. Have a blessed day!!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Jill, We are all brought up to believe in this idea that we are born either a “morning person” or not. We think this is actually incorrect. We just haven not yet had the motivation to enjoy the benefits of waking up. I too was under the impression that “I wasn’t a morning person”…Since learning of this program I have gotten up at 5:30 or 6:00 9 days in a row and I am loving it. My usual time was around 8:00 and if you asked me, I would have told you that one of my greatest joys was the fact that I didn’t ever have to get up before I wanted. The ability to sleep in was one of my greatest joys. All that changed. I am changed. My life is on a trajectory that is unprecedented. I want this for you! With love and blessings, Julie & Jodie

  146. Darla Norris says:

Great advice and hooray for March Madness!

  147. Cory Downie says:

Hello Julie….Oh my thank you for your response…you are too kind. I was up earlier this morning and will try earlier again tomorrow morning…Iam going to build my get out of bed early routine in stages…so each day I will break my previous record until…Iam an actual 6a.m. person…That is the plan and then I will get myself an early Christmas gift when I have 2 weeks under my belt…. Thanks for March Madness and you help and inspire me wish your ideas for bettering oneself. Take care and good tidings! Cory

  150. Tyler says:

    Julie & Jodie,
Wow, this is an amazing read! I have to be honest this is the first article I have read of yours, but what can I say I just found y’all (thanks to Instagram)! What I want to say to you is, “Challenge Accepted!”. I already get up about 2 hours before I have to leave in the AM, I get up walk the dog/feed the birds & then I have my coffee & I sit there & think! I think about Ty’s Knot and new designs and then how I can implement them and I write in my notebook! It is great advice. My downfall is my SNOOZE button….I hit it like 3 times every morning and it sets a tone!! I need to stop doing this & get that book you recommend. Thank you!
    Tyler

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Tyler, So happy to hear this. In the book Hal has an entire chapter devoted to helping you get up: “The 5-Step Snooze-Proof Wake Up Strategy” (For all of the Snooze-aholics). You are going to be blown away by the power of this book. I can’t wait for you to begin and to have it really transform your life. We hope you will revisit us because we’ve got a lot more inspiration to come. Blessings, Julie & Jodie

  151. Wow, I’m not even sure what to say?! I have been searching for something like this to begin my day…er, or should I say afternoon? Five years ago I just lost my mojo. I have no idea where I left it or who took it? Well, I have someone what of an idea. Hard divorce certainly didn’t help. Anyway, I’m a new followe on Instagram and saw this and was intrigued. I turn 50 in Oct and I thought to myself. I can’t spend my 50’s living like this. And, what do you know! You gals come up with a blog post on exactly what I’m looking for! I just purchased the book and can’t wait to dig right in! THANK YOU so much! I look forward to feeling rejuvinated!

  153. Cory Downie says:

Hello Julie and Jodie….Sorry you got covered in snow. We were totally iced in today..from the front door down the driveway onto the street and so we hunkered down and stayed in…So although I got up early feeling the first Christmas Mood…the rest of the day was like I did not wrap anything up but myself…Oh well..tomorrow is another day and hoping for sunshine and warmth. March Madness is happening and looking forward to Spring and flowers. Thanks for your good perspective and positive energy…it fortifies me. Take care and have a good night!..

  154. Brenda Galiher @growingingracedaily says:

  155. Pamela says:

  156. Shelly fonda says:

I am definitely a morning person and love to start my day early! Because I have back issues I have to get on the treadmill first thing so I can get my arthritis worked out ha! Then I’m on my way to get things done…. I make a “to do” list and love to get things checked off my list but I def. need to buy this book and read it! Always trying to improve!

We have learned so much already, and the morning routine is more powerful than I can describe. Thanks so much for your kind support. We hope you will continue to travel this journey with us. Your friends, Julie & Jodie

  157. Kayla Anderson says:

Looking forward to diving into this book soon. Thank you for the encouragement to make this change. I am a morning person by nature, but I think setting the alarm a little earlier and making time for the things that are most important would make a world of difference. Blessings to you both! Love, Kayla

  160. Cory Downie says:

Hi Julie…Thanks for the tour of your beautiful homestead with the lovely works from your friends and fellow artisans. Promoting artistic women whom you admire is such an honourable thing to do. My sister-in-law in Alberta opened a store in Banff and she supports and only sells wares of local artisans. So she shares your outlook of women promoting other women which is definitely in keeping with the celebration of women on this day.. Yeah!!. Beautiful sunny day today..Lots of excited chirping birds and we sat out on the deck and enjoyed a taste of Spring…I was an early riser this morning and feeling good about my new habit..Take care and Happy March Madness to you. All the best and bye for now. Cory

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Cory, Thank you darling, for taking time to write us such a beautiful reply. It means so much to us. I bought the book. I’m most of the way through and I love it! Definitely giving me a different view point on mornings and I can’t wait to like my life to the fullest.
    March madness!

  163. Angie Ostler says:

This is awesome! I have always known that getting up early in the morning makes a huge impact on my life. I fall into bad habits and end up staying late again. It cycles. Right now with having a new baby who gets me up in the night makes it even harder to wake up early. BUT…I cannot wait to have him more regularized so I can get back into this. It goes right along with the old saying “early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” The tricky part for me is forcing myself to actually get to bed at a decent time so I CAN get up early. I’m totally going to read this book. I feel like your post came at the perfect time for me. I need to get motivated again! xoxo

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Angie, Thanks for a great comment! This is exciting that it is already resonating with you and what you know can help you. It has already been a life changer for Jodie and me. We absolutely love the morning routine and all it adds to our days, our mentality and our overall trajectory of our lives. It’s extremely impactful. The book is over-delivering on so many counts. If you were to read one self help book in 10 years I would safely place my bet on this being the one to read. With love and best wishes, Julie & Jodie

  164. Angie Ostler says:

Oh, and March Madness!!! 🙂 🙂

  165. Cory Downie says:

Hi Julie…Iam just checking in..had a busy day out and about..went to Chapters and ordered..Miracle Mornings..Nota one left in the city of Ottawa, Canada..so it must be a very popular book….Iam very curious now! Happy March Madness… Cheers and take care…Bye for now….Cory

  166. Jill says:

Start your day with spring fever and March Madness and these two inspirational women❤️❤️

  167. Robin says:

Excellent advice! I recently retired and the lack of a structured day centered around work like I once has made me lazy. I need to apply these good habits to get back on track! Thank you! March Madness!

  168. Tracy says:

I am so glad i read this. So true. Happy march maddness.

    • jjdesigntwins says:

  169. Cory Downie says:

Hello Julie….another early morning for me this morning and I am beginning to beat the alarm in anticipation….My father always used to tell me if you want to be successful at something..you really have to want it.. so you presented the morning plan and Iam now an actual fan of this habit and would never have believed that I would become an early riser after I retired….very wierd but also wonderful…thanks for sharing your good knowledge and making learning relatable and enjoyable..You made me laugh about wearing your spring outfit again today. We always feel we have to appear in a different outfit everyday but when I was going to elementary school my mother used to insist we wear the same outfit 2 days in a row…I had totally forgotten about this repeat pattern until you mentioned that you had decided to wear the spring top and necklace for a second time…It is probably MARCH MADNESS!!! Have a good weekend and take care. Bye for now…Cory.

  170. Rebecca Carroll says:

I am definitely not a morning person, especially during the winter in Alaska when there is only 4 hours of daylight! I’m excited to read the book and start these steps to brighten my outlook even in the darkness. Thank you for the post! Love me some March Madness!

  171. Judy says:

Still working on the morning routine. March madness!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Thanks for all the time you put into your blogs!???? BRENDA

  174. Tiffany says:

This really makes me want to try to see if this is something I can do. I have recently had to start taking heart meds that make me feel so lethargic and I’ve noticed that I’ve been spending way more time in bed than I used to. Maybe some good old fashioned will and determination can help me break the sleeping-in habit and get my life back on track. Thanks so much for the inspiration! ???????? March Madness!!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Tiffany, YES, and I hope you will read the books we recommend. This is just the tip of the iceberg. You hold the power, my friend. 175. Melissa says:

This is good stuff. As a mom starting out in blogging ( so I can stay home and be more with the kids) this is exactly what I needed. It is a lot of work to get a blog started and promoted and even noticed by anyone…let alone make money. But it’s my dream, and this is the post that I needed to read! Thanks ladies!! XoMel

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Melissa, I’m so very glad this post helped you. We hope it helps many people. I just finished writing another post that you are sure to like, and it is a powerful continuation of this same topic. We hope you will enjoy it! Many blessings, Julie & Jodie

  176. Willa says:

Thank you so much for the book recommendation! I just bought the audiobook and can’t wait to bring more structure to my mornings…or to see the improvement in my days. Happy march madness!

    • jjdesigntwins says:

Willa, Welcome to our blog! We are so excited for you! The book holds the path to changing your life…if you follow the awesome advice. I just finished writing another blog post about the same topic that will be published later today or tomorrow. We are so excited to inspire others to join us on this journey of making our lives purposeful and more fulfilling. With gratitude, Julie & Jodie

Halfway through The Miracle Morning! (That in itself is perhaps a miracle, haha!) So many great points, Hal has addressed a lot of things that have hit me at my core and made me sit and think. I’ve underlined so much and I’m excited to draw a line in the sand. 😉 So thankful you recommended it!
