What’s New with The Design Twins

Jodie and I are making the most of our time together this summer. We are working hard but also making time to enjoy family and have some fun too. The DIY projects continue on all fronts. Do you ever notice how one DIY project spurs another and so on and so on? Maybe it’s the satisfaction of how we feel when we accomplish a great DIY project that motivates us to start the next. Maybe it’s that once we begin DIY it almost becomes a way of life. Whatever the reason we are on a roll, and it feels good. Our friends are too. So why not join the fun (and rewards) of Do-it-Yourself projects? We’ve got some awesome, inspiring ones to share with you this week that just may have you jumping on board.

As most of you already know, my daughter Bianca has joined us for the summer as our summer intern, which is not only helpful, but a real joy for both of us. Bianca is a creative writing major with a minor in journalism at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington and will be a senior in the fall. Photography, blogging & social media is all right up her alley. This week she helped us create a fun and festive blog post for the Fourth of July complete with easy decor ideas and a healthy treat you can whip up in no time.

UPDATE: Linky Party Frequency

Unlike past summers instead of doing less we seem to be doing even more. More DIY projects, more blog posts, more everything. With so many projects and posts in the works, we have decided to reduce the frequency of our Linky Party from every week to every month. This will allow for a longer window of opportunity for you to link up. Feel free to link up multiple posts and share this fun opportunity with your blogging buddies. We look forward to continuing to share your amazing talents.

outdoor patio DIY project painting

Our talented friend Jamie at So Much Better With Age painted her aging back patio concrete slab and turned it into a lasting & stylish statement. Our favorite kind of DIY project: practical, inexpensive, and gorgeous. A triple win. Best of all she shows how after a year of weather and wear it’s still looking great. Check out her recent post and her original how-to as well! Enjoy.

Here is my latest DIY project that is pretty easy. If you have an old ladder kicking around your garage, you’ll want to make my pool towel/blanket ladder for your yard. If you are like me, I love to upcycle our household items whenever I can.
