Equipment

  • air fryer

Ingredients

Apple Filling

  • 1 3.9 oz. applesauce
  • cinnamon to taste
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch approximately

Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2-1 tsp vanilla
  • 3-4 tsp milk or until icing is spreadable

pop tart crust

  • 2 pie shells refrigerator

Instructions

Apple Filling

  • Mix together applesauce, cinnamon & cornstarch in a small bowl..
  • If apple mixture is still runny place over low heat and stir until mixture thickens. Do not leave unattended. Keep stirring until you can feel mixture thickening.
  • Remove from heat.

Making the Pop Tarts

  • Unroll your pie crusts and lay them out on a cutting board.
  • Cut the pie crusts lengthwise into 6 long pieces, 3 pieces for each pie crust.
  • Spread about 1 tbsp apple mixture over the bottom center portion of each pie crust.
  • Do this to all 6 pop tarts until the apple mixture is evenly used up.
  • Note: It's not a lot but don't worry, the mixture is rich and it will give a lot of flavor. Too much and it would probably ooze out.
  • Next, fold over each end of the pie crust/pop tart.
  • Seal the edges by pressing a fork around all the edges to create a crimping effect.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 370 for just a few minutes.
  • Spray the bottom of the air fryer with oil.
  • Place as many pop tarts into your air fryer that will fit WITHOUT overlapping any edges.
  • Set the air fryer to 6 minutes and cook for 6 minutes.
  • Remove and let cool for just a few minutes.
  • Next it's time to make the Icing.

Icing

  • Mix together powdered sugar, vanilla, & milk in a small bowl.
  • Add milk as needed to create a spreadable consistency.
  • Spread icing over pop tarts that are still slightly warm.
  • Add sprinkles immediately as icing will harden quickly.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

Poptarts can be frozen. Just seal them and keep them in a freezer for up to 3 months.
Reheat:  You can reheat in the air fryer at 370 for 4-6 min.
