My Goals for My Halloween Tablescape
For my Halloween tablescape I envisioned an “Enchanted Mansion”. I imagined my old-world candelabras featured center stage, and could picture the table set with spooky elegance.
I had a few goals in mind when I first decided to create a Halloween Tablescape:
- It had to be inexpensive.
- I wanted it to be easy.
- The overall mood had to feel “MAGICAL”
I specifically choose to leave out anything too ghoulish since I don’t like skeletons, zombies, creepy crawlies or blood. I don’t pass judgement on those who go all out for Halloween ghoul, but it’s just not my cup of tea. If you’re like me there are plenty of ways to embrace Halloween fun and keep it G rated 🙂 For many years my Halloween decor actually looked just like fall…I stuck with pumpkins and had plenty of fun! Below are some of my absolute favorites for fall decor that I return to year after year because they never go out of style.
Sources for My Halloween Tablescape
Because I knew I wanted to keep a tight lid on my budget I did what I often do, I began with what I had (hence the candelabras featured front and center). I already owned my fabulous black and white paper table runner which I bought at a boutique. You can buy the same one at www.afloral.com by clicking HERE (unsponsored)
Here are some of the elements I already owned which appear on the table or in my dining room:
With those main elements and a general theme in my mind I headed to Target to see what I could find. First stop, the Dollar Spot. There I found the spooky trees, and I was off and running! Most of the items I found during that one lucky trip to Target. You can shop most of the same items and a few more right here:
The Importance of Lighting in Holiday Decor
Halloween marks the official beginning of the holiday season. This is when lighting becomes a fundamental in decorating. Candles, both real and faux, are a key element in all my holiday decor. And ever since I discovered them I’ve been using little wire “fairy lights” to achieve a special festive holiday feel. These versatile little wire light strings come out at Halloween, and I reuse them for Thanksgiving and Christmas and possibly a Winter Wonderland look as well. They add the wow factor to nearly any decor arrangement. For your convenience I have added some well-priced favorites below.
No Pressure Decorating
We believe decor should enhance life! That being said we don’t put pressure on ourselves if some years we just don’t have time. Sometimes decorating has to take a back seat to higher priorities…that’s real life. Sometimes we want to go all out but perimeters just don’t allow, and that’s okay. We go easy on ourselves, even we who LOVE to decorate more than any folks out there! Many times we must use what we have and make the best of it. There is an ebb and flow in life. Some years we have more time and more money and other years we have less. The moral here is decorating should never ADD to the stress of life, only enhance living. Enjoy where you are, all the good, all the blessings.
Make Halloween Magical
There’s no better time than Halloween to infuse a little (or a lot) of fun in your decor. Break out of your mold. Halloween is no time to hold back. It’s a playful time…all about creating delight for the whole family to enjoy. Your decor is the backdrop for memory making, so set the stage for your family adventures that begin at home!
After seeing how easy it is to create this fun Halloween tablescape I hope you’re: Inspired, Motivated & Confident…to create your own! Don’t let the fun-loving spirit of Halloween pass you by. After all, how often do we get the chance to add magic into our everyday lives?
